Solucient, the health care industry's leading provider of strategic business and clinical information, recently named Dr. Kaveh Safavi, MD as senior vice president and general manager of its clinical business unit. Solucient also conducts the 100 Top Hospitals® research program, which provides objective, empirical analyses of hospital performance.
A board-certified physician in internal medicine and pediatrics, Safavi provides a critical leadership role in the continued advancement of Solucient's clinical products--software and data-driven tools that improve the quality and delivery of care.

A seasoned health care professional with experience in both hospital and payer systems, Safavi, 42, brings strategic, entrepreneurial, and analytical leadership to Solucient. Most recently, Safavi grew a health care strategy and policy consulting business for biotechnology, payer, and information systems clients. Previously, he was the vice president of business and strategic development for Alexian Brothers Hospital Network.
Safavi has also served as vice president, medical affairs, for United Healthcare of Illinois, where he was responsible for the overall medical management program for 800,000 managed care plan members. As president and medical director for the HealthSpring Medical Group, Safavi launched a start-up primary care group medical practice in Illinois, developing all related business components for practice management. He has also worked as clinical director for Humana Health Plans, and has led plan-wide projects that improved physician productivity and service accountability.
Safavi has a doctor of medicine from the Loyola University School of Medicine, a law degree from DePaul University, and a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from Northwestern University.
