HBSI EXPLORE®
Empower Your Management Team with a Precise Picture of Your Organization's Performance
Business issues: Hospitals that are competing for patients while working to improve their financial viability must critically examine their business practices. To prosper, they must ask themselves:
- Are we able to consistently demonstrate our high-quality, efficient standards of care to consumers and payers?
- Do our physicians and service-line managers have the information they need to improve quality of care?
- Are we unknowingly wasting resources or missing reimbursement opportunities that could directly affect our bottom line?
Maximize improvement efforts: With HBSI EXPLORE®, you can give your management team the information they need on the cost and quality of care in their areas of responsibility. Empowered with these data, they can pinpoint clinical performance improvement opportunities down to specific drugs, supply items or diagnostic tests. Using data from EXPLORE, you can analyze relevant performance in peer or top-performing hospitals, set improvement goals based on that analysis and engage physicians in improvement efforts with a concise, comprehensive view of the quality of care they provide.
Use EXPLORE to obtain the most accurate picture possible of your performance, conduct peer-to-peer or aggregate comparisons and analyze your resource utilization. EXPLORE's standard reports are augmented by complete user-defined capabilities that give you the precise level of information you need — right down to specific supplies and tests — by day of service. With EXPLORE, you can drive performance improvement efforts for maximum value and utmost effect.
Discover the advantages: You will analyze data to identify opportunities and set organizational improvement goals that end with quantifiable results. Your in-depth assessments will improve quality of care, detect unseen inefficiencies in resource utilization, and empower change with programs that foster cooperation throughout your organization.
See results: EXPLORE gives you a realistic view of overall system performance. Using standard transaction codes (STCs), you can evaluate and compare patterns of care among physicians and across hospitals — and sponsor constructive change to achieve your goals. In addition, Solucient offers professional consultative services, training and helpline support to ensure you get maximum value from your EXPLORE experience.
Insight: Drive change and improvements throughout the system
Gwinnett Health System, a Georgia organization with three hospitals, more than 3,900 employees and approximately 700 affiliated physicians, knew that it needed ownership and leadership by physicians and operational staff to drive change and improvements throughout the system.
In partnership with Solucient®, Gwinnett used HBSI EXPLORE® to identify 12 project
locations, select appropriate comparison groups and drill into data pools
to determine specific areas for improvement. EXPLORE's comparative data
allowed senior management to go into line details and highlight differences
between Gwinnett performance and that of other community-based health systems.
Armed with the knowledge they gained from EXPLORE, Gwinnett implemented a collaborative approach to change that fostered cooperation and buy-in throughout the organization. Physicians and staff embraced the health system's improvement goals, and sponsored constructive changes to help achieve them. As a result, Gwinnett initiated improvements that could be quantified in the bottom line as well as in physician, staff and patient satisfaction.
